CALLING ALL ARTISTS!
Join us at the ART LAB, hosted by the Greenville Center for Creative Arts, where art comes to life through a weekend of workshops and demonstrations led by talented GCCA member artists. Whether you want to create your own masterpiece or simply watch the artistry unfold, our schedule is packed with exciting opportunities.
From painting and printmaking to jewelry, fiber arts, and clay, the ARTlab Tent hosted by GCCA is your place to create, observe, and be inspired. Don’t miss this chance to interact with local artists, meet the GCCA team, explore new techniques, and celebrate artistry at Artisphere!
Please Note: Workshops are free hands-on, participatory sessions available on a first-come, first-served basis (no registration). Demonstrations are live artist showcases for observation only.

WATERCOLOR FLORAL WREATH

CONTEMPORARY KINTSUGI
Kintsugi is a 400 year old Japanese tradition of repairing broken pottery using lacquer and powdered metal. This process doesn’t hide the mended areas but highlights them making the piece more beautiful and valuable than before it was broken. Experience a kintsugi process
using contemporary materials during this one hour workshop.
ACRYLIC ABSTRACT PIECES
Create a unique abstract painting while exploring color, line, and movement with acrylic paint. Everyone will walk away with their own 10” x 10” painted canvas.
PRINTMAKING
Here you will carve a design into the linoleum block, ink the parts that weren’t cut out, and print your block with a press. Your print will not disappoint!
PAPER EARRINGS
Create your own vibrant and lightweight earrings out of paper and chipboard! Emily will have prepared templates to choose from, or you can create your own! Students will combine textured and colored scrapbook papers and collage them onto chipboard. Emily will assist
students in cutting the earrings with a scroll saw or exacto knife, followed by varnishing and attaching them to metal findings.
WATERCOLOR CARD: BLUE BIRD
Learn some simple watercolor techniques while having some fun creating your own blue bird card from scratch.
AIR DRY CLAY WHEEL
Experience the potter’s wheel with alternative materials! Emily will assist each student while they create a unique pot on the wheel with air dry clay. After throwing, students will use heat guns to dry their pieces enough to bring home to paint at a later date! Tips for painting and
varnishing will be offered. No experience necessary.
FOUND OBJECT ASSEMBLAGE BLOCK SCULPTURE
Come and create your own block sculpture using provided materials like collage papers, buttons, and additional small trinkets. You can also bring your own small objects to include in this 5” – 10” sculpture.
